TRUMP REPORT CARD January 13, 2018

TRUMP REPORT CARD: F

Week of January 13, 2018 in Review

Ryan and McConnell are salivating after our Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security to pay for the billion dollar tax cuts for the rich and corporations.  They need more money while apparently we can do with less.

Feinstein releases Fusion transcripts, further implicating Trump and Republicans, who have been selectively ignoring it.  The web of collusion is encroaching upon them.

Trump gives Deutsche Bank and four others with criminal records the Christmas gift of managing American retirement accounts. Deutsche Bank is the only bank willing to give Trump credit.

Trump makes good on oil and gas campaign promises (bribes) to open up America’s coasts for drilling, and quickly exempts Florida and Mar-a-Lago.  Business friendly = lining his pockets.

Dreamers get temporary reprieve with a ruling that the Trump administration must resume accepting renewal applications. Congress must pass legislation by January 19 or families will be ripped apart.

Another January 19th deadline will cause some states to lose funding for the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP)—a highly successful, cost efficient program that provides health care coverage to 9 million low- and middle-income children.

While Attacking the First Amendment, and likely Fire and Fury, Trump makes this priceless statement, “You can’t say things that are false, knowingly false and be able to smile as money pours into your bank account.”  Doesn’t that define him and his presidency?

The Times Magazine captures Trump’s first year with one picture, on its cover. http://mashable.com/2018/01/11/time-magazine-trump-fire-cover/#EcAPT5WupOqi

And, finally, speaking on immigration and referring to Haiti, Africa and El Salvador, racist Trump asks “Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here?” Later in the meeting, referring to Nigerians, says they would never “go back to their huts”.

* US directs State Department to cut UN budget by 1 billion in retaliation for condemnation of US decision to move Israel capital to Jerusalem.

TRUMP REPORT CARD DEC. 17, 2017

Dear Editor,

Here is my Trump report card, for the week of Dec. 17.
* Trump has banned the use of seven words from documents by the CDC: evidence-based, science-based, transgender, fetus, vulnerable, diversity, and entitlement.
* Today, the CA Att. General filed a lawsuit in federal court against the Education Department & DeVos, charging the government for violating the Administrative Procedures Act by unlawfully delaying approval of claims of defrauded students.
* White House will decide on the use of “Negro," on federal forms. Offensive term unused since 2014.
* “USDA Organic” will no longer mean that animals were treated humanely. So much for healthy meat, fish and eggs.
* The GOP lets CHIP program expire in September, leaving 9 million children and pregnant women without health coverage. CHIP was unfunded in the Tax Bill but received emergency funding through January.
* Palestinian President rejected America’s future role as mediator, declaring that Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem is “declaration of withdrawal” from the peace process.
* UN votes 128-9, declaring Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel “null and void,” condemning it as “illegal, destabilizing, and a violation of international law.”
* Wage theft proposed rule would allow employers to steal workers' tips, and estimates that employers would take $5.8 billion from workers
* Congress passes Trump’s Tax Bill, Christmas gift to himself, the uber wealthy, businesses and corporations. Not so much for the middle class and the poor.

TRUMP REPORT CARD DEC. 10, 2017

Dear Editor,

Here is my Trump report card, for the week of Dec. 10.

* Sixteen women have accused Trump of sexual misconduct and along with fifty-nine congresswomen called for a congressional investigation. Rep. Lois Frankel: "No man or woman is above the law,"

* RNC Nebraska official Joyce Simmons resigns to protest Trump and the committee's financial support for Roy Moore.

*GOP Elizabeth Shackelford from the State Department wrote a blistering resignation letter: “the agency's influence has withered in part because of the ‘stinging disrespect’ shown by the Trump administration.”

* Non-partisan PWBM from Trump’s business school alma mater: “Even with assumptions favorable to economic growth, the Senate TCJA increases debt by over $1.5 trillion dollars over the next decade”.  The report’s three key findings contradict every claim that Republican advocates of the bill make.

* Trump tweets that Senator Kirsten Gellibrand will “do anything for money” in a thinly disguised sexual harassment post.

* Trump’s FCC votes to overturn net neutrality, which saves us from paying extra for Internet/cable.

* Fourteen former U.S. government officials, from Republican/Democratic administrations co-wrote an amicus brief disputing Trump’s claims of no Russian meddling.

TRUMP REPORT CARD DEC. 3, 2017

Dear Editor,

I am writing to provide some balance to the privately funded Trump Report Card in the County Compass.  Here is the week of Dec. 3 in review.

*Trump eviscerated Bears Ears and Grand Staircase Monuments in Utah by two million acres, the largest rollback of federal land protection in our history, making way for gas and oil extraction, mining and more, despite the pleas of five Indian tribes and the loss of over 100,000 archaeological sites.

*President Trump told Israeli and Arab leaders he would recognize Jerusalem as the Israeli capital, and move the embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, counter to U.S. policy and risking violence and peace progress between Israel and the Palestinians.

*The Supreme Court allowed the Muslim Ban to go into full effect against residents of six mostly Muslim countries while it is being litigated. Critics believe that it violates the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment, which prohibits favoring or excluding members of any religion.

*German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel told the Berlin Foreign Policy Forum that Germany no longer sees the US as a superpower and that they will begin to determine and follow through on their own agenda, regardless of US positions.

*House Rep. Mark Takano, a former teacher, represents California’s 41st District.  He couldn't resist marking up the Tax Bill with his red pen, noting the errors and late submission, giving it an F. https://twitter.com/RepMarkTakano/status/938475274366275584

*Trump held a Hanukkah Party, but OOPS! He neglected to invite any Democratic members of Congress.

*CA GOP Senator Kurt Bardella resigned and no longer wants to be associated with the GOP and is switching to the Democratic Party, citing "an unrelenting assault on the Constitution, the free press and freedom of expression while Republican “leaders” do nothing”.
